After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chapel Hill, the Gunter Tigers were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They took down Collinsville 51-37. Given Gunter's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while Collinsville is ranked 1211th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Collinsville still got an impressive performance from Carter Scott, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds. Those 19 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Scott. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Carpenter, who scored 14 points.
Gunter has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Collinsville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gunter is on the road again on Friday and play against Slidell at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Slidell will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Collinsville, they will head out on the road to face off against Blue Ridge at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
