Patrick County is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Floyd County is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cougars will welcome the Buffaloes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Patrick County's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Radford as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won four in a row.

Journey Moore made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Lilly Hazelwood was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chloe Hubbard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Floyd County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Patrick Henry on Wednesday. The Buffaloes were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Patriots.
Like Patrick County, Floyd County also got a great game from a two-way player: Reagan Harris. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Harris was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Lilly Gillispie and Ava DeJesus did most of the damage at the plate: Gillispie fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4, while DeJesus went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that DeJesus hit this season. Winslet Vassar was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Floyd County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Floyd County's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Patrick County, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Patrick County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Floyd County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Patrick County was able to grind out a solid victory over Floyd County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 15-11. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Buffaloes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
