The NorthWood Panthers won the last time they faced the Jimtown Jimmies, and things went their way on Saturday too. In a tight game that could have gone either way, NorthWood made off with a 40-39 win over Jimtown. The win made it back-to-back wins for NorthWood.
Claire Payne was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of NorthWood's points. Another player making a difference was Joselyn Edwards, who scored 10 points.
Several Jimmies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexis Garretson, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Wiegand, who scored 9 points along with 3 steals.
NorthWood is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Jimtown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
NorthWood will be playing at home against South Bend St. Joseph at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully South Bend St. Joseph focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. Jimtown's road trip will continue as they head out to face Elkhart Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th.
