The Rustburg Red Devils will take on the Jefferson Forest Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Rustburg's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Liberty Christian as they made off with an 11-0 win. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Liberty Christian's batters probably weren't too happy with Laila Bigham, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 19 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Bigham has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Skylar Tyree was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cayla Carico, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Jefferson Forest made easy work of Magna Vista on Wednesday and carried off a 7-1 win.
The team relied heavily on Kylie Hendricks, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taya Hall, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Rustburg's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Jefferson Forest, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Rustburg hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Jefferson Forest struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Rustburg came up short against Jefferson Forest in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, falling 5-0. Will the Red Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
