Basketball Game Preview: Christian County Colonels vs. Hopkinsville Tigers

Christian County has gone 8-2 against Hopkinsville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Christian County Colonels will head out to challenge the Hopkinsville Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Christian County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season.

Christian County fought the good fight in their overtime game against Owensboro on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 64-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Colonels have suffered since March 1, 2024.

Christian County might have lost, but man, NeVaeh Day was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 23 points and 20 rebounds. What's more, Day also racked up seven steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Anaysia Bagwell, who posted 22 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Christian County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Hopkinsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 74-41 loss at the hands of Graves County. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Eagles are ranked 13th).

Christian County's record now sits at 9-8. As for Hopkinsville, their record is now 4-6.

Christian County couldn't quite finish off Hopkinsville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 60-58. Can Christian County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
