Eastern Mennonite hasn't had much luck against Carlisle recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eastern Mennonite Flames will square off against the Carlisle Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. Carlisle took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Eastern Mennonite, who comes in off a win.
Eastern Mennonite made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Roanoke Catholic, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Eastern Mennonite was the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Roanoke Catholic on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Flames considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Luke Stoltzfus made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Stoltzfus was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Jake Stevenson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Isaac Ott was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Carlisle unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Christian Heritage Academy by a score of 6-5 on Monday.
Like Eastern Mennonite, Carlisle also got a great game from a two-way player: Casey Thomas. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Thomas a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cole Scarce was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Eastern Mennonite might still be hurting after the 16-4 loss they got from Carlisle in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Eastern Mennonite avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
