The South Lenoir Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the D.H. Conley Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Lenoir is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
South Lenoir will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against North Lenoir on Tuesday. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 15-3 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Blue Devils have posted against the Hawks since April 19, 2023.
Jade Sasnett made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Sasnett was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylan Wade, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jersey Sasnett, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
South Lenoir hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Lenoir struck out six times.
Meanwhile, D.H. Conley strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Clayton a 6-0 shutout.
Not much got past Kendall Howard, who gave up just a hit and racked up 20 Ks to keep Clayton off the board. Howard has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Harper Bradley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Sarah Booth also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
The win got South Lenoir back to even at 2-2. As for D.H. Conley, their record now sits at 5-0.
