Foothill has won three straight games at home, while West Campus has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Foothill made easy work of Sacramento and carried off a 3-0 win.
While Foothill won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-22, 25-14.
Foothill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashton Yang, who had 12 assists and eight digs. Those 12 assists gave Yang a new career-high.
Foothill was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 28 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, West Campus earned a 3-1 victory over Florin two weeks ago.
West Campus had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-19.
West Campus is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-17 record this season. As for Foothill, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
Foothill came out on top in a nail-biter against West Campus when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
