Given Simi Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Ventura is ranked 627th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Simi Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryder Mjoen led the charge by scoring 26 points along with six rebounds. The game was Mjoen's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Kyle Hoffer was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
Simi Valley's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Ventura, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
Simi Valley's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lodi at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th. One thing working in Lodi's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches. Ventura will finish 2023 at home by hosting Oaks Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
