Softball Recap: Camas Has No Trouble Against Evergreen

Camas had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Evergreen on Monday. The Papermakers put the hurt on the Plainsmen with a sharp 14-1 victory. Considering the Papermakers have won five matchups by more than 12 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Ellie Wittler was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season. Keegan Kirkwood was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Camas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Camas has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Evergreen, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Camas will take on Seton Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Evergreen, they will face off against Heritage at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
