Awaken Christian hasn't had much luck against Pahranagat Valley recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lions will venture away from home to take on the Panthers at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Awaken Christian's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Sandy Valley with a sharp 18-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Sidewinders: they've now won four in a row.

Margaux Burney made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Natalie Campbell was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Kaylee Rasmussen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Awaken Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .774. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Pahranagat Valley got the win against Mountain View Christian on Friday by a conclusive 15-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Like Awaken Christian, Pahranagat Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Hadee Walch. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Walch was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Alivia Walch was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those triples were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mylah Stout, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Awaken Christian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pahranagat Valley, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Pahranagat Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Awaken Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Pahranagat Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 2.7 strikeouts. Will Awaken Christian keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Awaken Christian might still be hurting after the 16-1 loss they got from Pahranagat Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2019. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
