Baseball Recap: Colfax Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Colfax barely beat Liberty the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Lancers a 10-0 shutout on Saturday. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Isaac Nelson tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jake Melhus was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aslan Burt, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Colfax was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Colfax is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Liberty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

As of now, neither Colfax nor the Lancers have any future games scheduled.
