Basketball Recap: Gross Catholic Beats South Sioux City for Their Third Straight Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Gross Catholic duked it out with South Sioux City on Friday. The Gross Catholic Cougars walked away with a 56-47 win over the South Sioux City Cardinals. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bailee Durant, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 11 points and six boards. What's more, Durant also posted a 63% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in February of 2024. IzaBella Moret was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks.

Gross Catholic's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. As for South Sioux City, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

Coming up, Gross Catholic will host Omaha South at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Gross Catholic is facing Omaha South at the right time seeing as Omaha South is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for South Sioux City, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 52-49 win against Omaha Northwest on the 15th.
