The Greeley West Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Longmont, falling 57-26. Greeley West has struggled against Longmont recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Greeley West still got an impressive performance from Michaela Ellis, who scored five points along with five rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Ellis grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Lopez, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Longmont was led to victory by Kaila Patterson and Savannah Pohl. Patterson scored 30 points, while Pohl dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 13 rebounds, and ten steals. Pohl has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Stella Rulon, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Greeley West has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Longmont, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Greeley West will head out on the road to challenge Holy Family at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Holy Family will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. Longmont will take on Silver Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Silver Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Friday.
