Harrisburg Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 65-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Covenant Christian. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Harrisburg Christian in their matchups with New Covenant Christian: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Harrisburg Christian had strong showings from Eli Stargel, who shot 4-for-5 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, and Judah Kleinschmidt, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Evan Sunday, who scored two points along with six rebounds and three steals.
New Covenant Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Keenan Stoner out in front who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Tycen VanDerPloog was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Harrisburg Christian has not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for New Covenant Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
Harrisburg Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Harrisburg Academy at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
