Softball Game Preview: Eureka Loggers vs. South Fork Cubs

Eureka is a perfect 3-0 against South Fork since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Loggers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cubs at 12:00 p.m. Eureka has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with ten straight losses, while South Fork will come in with three straight victories.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Eureka and Del Norte, and Del Norte kept the tradition alive. The Loggers lost 18-4 to the Warriors on Saturday.

Eureka saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Brown, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, South Fork got the win against Ferndale on Thursday by a conclusive 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Cubs, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

South Fork pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Eureka, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11-1.

Everything went Eureka's way against South Fork in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, as Eureka made off with a 14-0 win. Will the Loggers repeat their success, or do the Cubs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
