Union City is 8-2 against Eisenhower since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bears will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Union City has four straight wins, Eisenhower has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Union City beats Eisenhower with 11 runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Everything went the Bears' way against Seneca on Thursday as they made off with an 11-4 victory. With that win, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Aiden Shuman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Shuman was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Union City: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Luke Racop tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Union City's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't).
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper Fox, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Steven Klakamp, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Union City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Seneca only managed eight hits.
Meanwhile, Eisenhower suffered their closest loss since April 15, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Northwestern by a score of 10-8.
Union City's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Eisenhower, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Union City was able to grind out a solid victory over Eisenhower in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 7-2. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
