The Springville Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They lost to Clearfield on the road by a decisive 53-34 margin. While losing is never fun, Springville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Clearfield is ranked 29th).
Millie Thompson was Springville's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Gwen Fales took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with four assists.
Leading Clearfield to victory were Xiyah Yarbrough and Isabelle Wyaskett. Yarbrough scored 13 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 steals, while Wyaskett scored 21 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Wyaskett continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Nevea Cordova was another key contributor, scoring 5 points.
Springville bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Clearfield, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springville will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Pleasant Grove at 7:00 p.m. on December 7th. Hopefully Pleasant Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday. As for Clearfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Ben Lomond at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
