Softball Recap: Redondo Union's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Redondo Union came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Sea Hawks, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Teilar Fry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That one hit allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other pitching news, Bailey Murray looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 12 consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Abby Luis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaya Aguirre, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Redondo Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .593. They are undefeated (9-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Redondo Union's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Redondo Union will welcome La Serna at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Redondo Union 2, La Serna 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, they will host Bishop Montgomery at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Montgomery's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Wiseburn- Da Vinci's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
