The Trenton Tigers stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They blew past Branford 54-14 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-10.
Trenton was led to victory by Nyima Gillyard and Koi Perry. Gillyard scored 23 points along with three steals, while Perry dropped a triple-double on ten rebounds, ten assists, and 11 steals. Perry hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Brianna Karanja, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Branford lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Synniah Watkins, who scored four points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amyah James, who scored three points.
The win (which was Trenton's fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-2. As for Branford, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Trenton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bell at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Bell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 506th, while Trenton is ranked 115th). As for Branford, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lafayette at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lafayette will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
