Refugio has gone 9-1 against Three Rivers recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Refugio Bobcats will welcome the Three Rivers Bulldogs at 9:00 a.m. Refugio will be strutting in after a win while Three Rivers will be coming in after a defeat.
Refugio will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Mathis on Tuesday. Refugio was the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Mathis. The Bobcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Mattew Perez and Laytyn Garza made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Perez pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Meanwhile, Garza tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Perez scored a run while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances, while Garza scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs Garza has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zander Wills, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Parker Taylor was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Three Rivers fell victim to Stockdale and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to the Brahmas. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Brahmas recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Three Rivers saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lathan Meyer, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Refugio's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2-1. As for Three Rivers, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Refugio came out on top in a nail-biter against Three Rivers in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will Refugio repeat their success, or does Three Rivers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
