The Columbus Christian Crusaders came into Tuesday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 69-66 victory over Shawe Memorial on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Columbus Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Peyton Walden, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Pritchard, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 assists.
Columbus Christian's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-14. As for Shawe Memorial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus Christian will play host again and welcome Crothersville, where tip off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Shawe Memorial, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Switzerland County at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Switzerland County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Saturday.
