The Hockaday Daisies will square off against the Parish Episcopal Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hockaday has eight straight wins, Parish Episcopal has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
On Tuesday, Hockaday made easy work of Episcopal School of Dallas and carried off a 3-0 victory.
The final score came out to 25-11, 25-17, 25-9.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hockaday to victory, but perhaps none more so than Porter Johnston, who had five digs and two aces. That's the most aces Johnston has posted since back in September. Emily Boomstra was another key player, getting five aces and three digs.
They weren't the only good servers: Hockaday was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Parish Episcopal came up short against Nolan Catholic on Thursday, falling 3-0.
The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-13.
Parish Episcopal's loss dropped their record down to 7-13-1. As for Hockaday, their win bumped their record up to 25-17.
Everything went Hockaday's way against Parish Episcopal in their previous matchup back in August of 2024, as Hockaday made off with a 3-0 victory. Do the Daisies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
