R.W. Goines Stem Academy are on the road again on Saturday and plays the iSchool of Lewisville Cougar at 2:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully R.W. Goines Stem Academy is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Cougar in Texas (the are ranked 109th, while the Cougar are ranked 287th).
R.W. Goines Stem Academy pushed their score all the way to 65 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of BigTyme Prep Academy by a score of 68-65.
Meanwhile, even though Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes scored an imposing 65 points on Thursday, iSchool of Lewisville still came out on top. ISchool of Lewisville had just enough and edged Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes out 68-65. The victory was nothing new for iSchool of Lewisville as they're now sitting on three straight.
ISchool of Lewisville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was David Iweze, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Iweze has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Lawal, who scored 25 points along with two steals.
R.W. Goines Stem Academy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-9 record this season. As for iSchool of Lewisville, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.
R.W. Goines Stem Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Cougar in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 61-57 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Iweze, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will R.W.
