The Logan Grizzlies will face off against the Malad Dragons at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Logan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Logan is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Mountain Ridge, who was ranked 21st at the time (Logan was ranked 22nd). The Grizzlies came up short against the Sentinels on Saturday, falling 14-5.
Miley Allen was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Bracken, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Malad waltzed into their game on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Everything went their way against the Bulldogs as they made off with a 16-1 victory. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Logan Maroney was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kialey Pickett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
Malad was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in eight consecutive matchups.
Logan's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5-1. As for Malad, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Logan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .476. However, it's not like Malad struggles in that department as they've averaged .506. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Logan came out on top in a nail-biter against Malad in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 8-6. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
