After two games on the road, Gulfport is heading back home. They will take on the Harrison Central Red Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gulfport will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Harrison Central is ranked 29th).
Last Tuesday, Gulfport came up short against St. Martin and fell 66-53.
Meanwhile, Harrison Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 55-44 win over Biloxi.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Harrison Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shaun Murray, who scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Nehemiah Barnett, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Gulfport has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Harrison Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
