The Stockdale Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Frontier. While losing is never fun, Stockdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 570th, while Frontier is ranked 271st).
Zach Garnett was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds for Frontier. Garnett hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Peyton Beltran, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Stockdale's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Frontier, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Stockdale will take on Independence at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Frontier, they will head out on the road to take on Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Liberty knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Frontier likes a good challenge.
