The Kennedy Cougars had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They blew past Haynes Academy 55-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Kennedy, who have now won four contests by 42 points or more so far this season.
Amyne Darensbourg was on fire: he threw for 171 yards and five touchdowns on only ten passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Chelsea iii, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown.
Kennedy's victory was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.7 points per game. As for Haynes Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Kennedy will square off against Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Kennedy is ranked 53rd). As for Haynes Academy, they will be playing at home against Livingston Collegiate Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
