The Bridge to Independence Wildcats on the road again on Monday and play against the Spruce Creek Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on January 15th. Hopefully Bridge to Independence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Bridge to Independence was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-38 to DME Academy Blue.
Despite the loss, Bridge to Independence saw an underclassman step up: Jaydan Jeantinord dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds. Jeantinord has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jvarius Gibson, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Spruce Creek can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against New Smyrna Beach by a score of 54-42. The win was all the more spectacular given Spruce Creek's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 440th, while New Smyrna Beach is ranked 216th).
Bridge to Independence's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Spruce Creek, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12.
