6A District 5 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Gainesville extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 5 this week by beating Citrus, 56-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Hurricanes.
Gainesville took down the Hurricanes 56-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Adam Robles and Tyronte Files gave Vanguard a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Robles threw for 71 yards and one touchdown, while Files ran for 177 yards. Darren McNair also contributed to the rushing game with 127 yards on the ground.
Peter Forges was the best wideout in the league this week as Lecanto beat Wildwood. Forges racked up four receptions for 84 yards. Ricky Marcic helped Lecanto's passing attack out by catching one ball for six yards.
Thanks to the talents of Robles and Files the Knights have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Robles leads the league in passing with 677 yards, while Files has rushed for 563 yards this season. Lake Weir's Shawn Evans leads the league in receiving yards with 306 on 25 catches.
The Hurricanes led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on Citrus.
