The Wichita County Indians will look to defend their home field on Friday against the South Gray Rebels at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wichita County has 20 straight victories, South Gray has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Wichita County got themselves on the board against Sublette, but Sublette never followed suit. They breezed by the Larks on the road to the tune of 64-0. Fans of Wichita County have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Wyatt Gardner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 193 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Khris Hermosillo was another key contributor, rushing for 49 yards and three touchdowns.
Wichita County's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 5.5 times. Leading the way was Christopher Michel and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, South Gray pushed their score all the way to 62 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elkhart.
Wichita County's victory was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-0. They've been dominating across those matchups too: they took their wins by an average of 53 points. South Gray has been struggling this season, as they've lost six of their first seven games, which leaves them at a 1-6 record this season.
