The Waller Bulldogs will challenge the Langham Creek Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
On Saturday, Waller came up short against Bridgeland and fell 38-28. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Bears are ranked 101st).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Robert Carter, who rushed for 94 yards and one score on only 11 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristin 'T.K' Gaines, who threw for 152 yards and one TD.
Meanwhile, Langham Creek entered their tilt with Cypress Park on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They breezed past the Tigers to the tune of 55-7. The result was nothing new for the Lobos, who have now won three contests by 38 points or more so far this season.
Langham Creek's win came from a few key players Waller will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jace Williams, who rushed for 40 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Andre Salazar was another key player, rushing for 51 yards and one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Langham Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Langham Creek's defense and their 3.5 sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Blake Long, Romeo Granados, and Jacory Shine, who each picked up one sack apiece. Langham Creek got some further help from Long: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made six total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Waller's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-3. As for Langham Creek, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Waller beat Langham Creek 21-14 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Lobos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
