The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Sunnyslope on the road and fell 66-39. Mountain Ridge has not had much luck with Sunnyslope recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Mountain Ridge still got an impressive performance from Vikram Thevar, who scored nine points.
Leading Sunnyslope to victory were Jai Anthoni Bearden and John Mattingly. Bearden scored 19 points along with five rebounds, while Mattingly scored 14 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bearden scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delton Prescott, who scored ten points.
Mountain Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Sunnyslope, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Mountain Ridge will be home for the holidays to greet O'Connor at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in O'Connor's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Sunnyslope, they will head out on the road to face off against Brophy College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Brophy College Prep is on a four-game streak of home wins, Sunnyslope a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
