The Summerfield Rebels suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were beaten by Gibsland-Coleman 63-26. Summerfield has struggled against Gibsland-Coleman recently, as their game on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Gibsland-Coleman found their leader in underclassman DeAvery Durham, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Durham has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Demarquis Durham, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Summerfield's defeat dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Gibsland-Coleman, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summerfield will square off against Claiborne Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Claiborne Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Gibsland-Coleman, they will head out on the road to square off against Family Community Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Family Community Christian has now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
