The Craigmont Chiefs pushed their score all the way to 69 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Millington Central at home by a decisive 83-69 margin. Craigmont has not had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Several Chiefs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christopher Taylor, who scored 25 points. That was a full 36.2% of Craigmont's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tashun Lewis, who scored 14 points.
It was another big night for Aiden Maclin, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds for Millington Central. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Maclin has scored all season. Tayshaun Dye was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.
Craigmont's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Millington Central, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Craigmont will challenge the Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Covington is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Millington Central, they will head out on the road to take on the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
