On Thursday, Kokomo sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-38 win over Eastern. Given Kokomo's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Eastern is ranked 330th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ma'Kaela Drake was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Amara Stroman was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Kokomo now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Eastern, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kokomo will take on Logansport at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Logansport is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Eastern will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lanesville at 1:30 p.m. on January 13, 2024.
