Alpaugh hasn't had much luck against Laton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Buffalos will head out to face off against the Mustangs at 4:15 p.m. Alpaugh has given up an average of 13.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Alpaugh was handed a 11-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 22-21 win over Kings Christian. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Laton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Wonderful College Prep Academy on Friday as they made off with a 16-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 12 games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Jade Perez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.
In other batting news, Madison Heffley was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emmily Mares, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Laton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Laton has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.4 runs over those games. As for Alpaugh, their record is now 10-6.
Alpaugh might still be hurting after the 16-4 defeat they got from Laton in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Buffalos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
