If the Holy Cross Lancers were feeling good off their 63-43 takedown of the Northern Burlington Greyhounds on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Holy Cross took a 47-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Trenton Catholic Academy on Wednesday. Holy Cross lost against Trenton Catholic Academy in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 63-45 score last time.
Holy Cross lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Emmanuel Doku, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Doku scored a full 38.5% of Holy Cross' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samir Wellington, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Holy Cross now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Trenton Catholic Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Cross won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pennsauken at 5:15 p.m. on December 21st. As for Trenton Catholic Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Burlington City at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Burlington City comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
