The Ridge View Raptors will head out on the road to face off against the Emmetsburg E'Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Ridge View took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 45-6 win over Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto/Charter Oak-Ute. Given Ridge View's advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto/Charter Oak-Ute is ranked 235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Emmetsburg had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 54-6 win over Northwest Webster at home. The result was nothing new for Emmetsburg, who have now won six matches by 26 points or more so far this season.
Emmetsburg can attribute much of their success to Jace Nelson-Brown, who rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Their wins bumped Ridge View to 4-4 and Emmetsburg to 7-1.
Ridge View was taken down by Emmetsburg 27-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Ridge View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
