The Penfield Patriots will take on the Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators in a tournament on Friday. Penfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Penfield didn't have quite enough to beat James Madison and fell 7-6. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Addison Young was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Megan Clark was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Greenbrier Christian Academy came tearing into Thursday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Cruisers 8-0. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

Peyton Moran was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cora Smith, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Greenbrier Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Penfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Penfield's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Patriots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Greenbrier Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Penfield continue to outrun the ball?
