The Sabino Sabercats will be playing at home against the River Valley Dust Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Sabino beat Mohave 34-29.
Cameron Hackworth had a dynamite game for Sabino, rushing for 122 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 268 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. Hackworth was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamar Berryhill, who picked up 87 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, River Valley put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Chino Valley, posting a 55-0 victory at home. The win was just what River Valley needed coming off of a 48-6 loss in their prior match.
Jayden Plotkin went supernova for River Valley, rushing for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Another player making a difference was Michael Saykally, who rushed for 45 yards and two touchdowns.
River Valley's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Chino Valley's QB won't forget Ben Serrano anytime soon given Serrano sacked him four times.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 7-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Sabino has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 286.1 passing yards per game. It's a different story for River Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 83.9 per game. How will River Valley fare against such a dominant passing game?
