Rancho Cucamonga is 0-4 against Chino Hills since March of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Rancho Cucamonga Cougars will be playing at home against the Chino Hills Huskies at 4:45 p.m. Rancho Cucamonga will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
While Rancho Cucamonga didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Alta Loma on Thursday.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Chino Hills' good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Elsinore by a score of 3-2. While the Huskies didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 25-19 in the first set.
While Chino Hills ultimately came up short, they really made Elsinore work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 29-27, 25-21, 26-28, 19-17.
Rancho Cucamonga will need to focus on slowing down Sean Spicer, one of several Chino Hills players who made an impact when they last played. He had 28 kills, nine digs, and three aces. Spicer is crushing it when it comes to kills: he's had at least six every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Sabbara, who had eight digs and three aces.
Even though they lost, Chino Hills was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in five consecutive contests.
Chino Hills' loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Rancho Cucamonga, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
