Audriana Anglada made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Nicole Topete was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Josie Barden was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Horizon Honors always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Willcox only posted an OBP of .391.
Meanwhile, Heritage Academy posted their closest victory since March 13th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Morenci 5-4.
Like Horizon Honors, Heritage Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Sieana Soltero. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Soltero was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Christina Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Rowan Asanovich, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Horizon Honors pushed their record up to 21-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Heritage Academy, their win bumped their record up to 22-4.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Horizon Honors has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .601. However, it's not like Heritage Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .533. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Horizon Honors' way against Heritage Academy in their previous meeting back in April, as Horizon Honors made off with a 13-7 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Heroes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
