Two dominant signal callers in Cason Carrigan and Joshua Scott are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After each having a week off, the Eagle's Landing Christian Academy Chargers and the Stockbridge Tigers will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eagle's Landing Christian Academy has given up an average of 31.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Eagle's Landing Christian Academy is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games last Friday. They fell 33-21 to Jones County. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 96th).
Although Eagle's Landing Christian Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Cameron Matthews, Aidan Mathews, and Carrigan.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Stockbridge over Union Grove in every quarter on their way to victory last Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Tigers blew the Wolverines out of the water with a 60-28 final score. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four matchups by 32 points or more so far this season.
Stockbridge's win came from a few key players Eagle's Landing Christian Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mason Freeman, who picked up 120 receiving yards and two scores. That's the most receiving touchdowns he has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Zyon Robinson, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
One reason for the win was Stockbridge's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. In that department, Jayden Smith was the leader with two. Joshua Davidson was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Eagle's Landing Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Stockbridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Eagle's Landing Christian Academy has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 183.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Stockbridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 162.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
