Even though the Millard West Wildcats scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks still came out on top. Lincoln Southwest sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-55 win over Millard West. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Lincoln Southwest has posted yet this season.
Lincoln Southwest was led to victory by Bj Bradford and Braden Frager. Bradford scored 15 points along with three steals, while Frager scored 11 points along with three steals. Bradford is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxyn Cruse, who scored ten points along with two blocks.
Despite the defeat, Millard West had strong showings from Cooper Fortune, who scored 21 points, and Jordan Gassen, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fortune has scored all season.
The victory (which was Lincoln Southwest's third in a row) raised their record to 7-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Millard West, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln Southwest will take on Lincoln East at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln East has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 317 points over their last five matches. As for Millard West, they will head out on the road to challenge Omaha Westside at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Omaha Westside presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Millard West in Nebraska (Omaha Westside is ranked 12th, while Millard West is ranked 92nd).
