The Sayville Golden Flashes can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Miller Place as Sayville made off with a 58-35 victory. Given Sayville's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while Miller Place is ranked 561st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Miller Place's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julie Orenzo, who scored 13 points. Orenzo continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Zicchinelli, who scored 13 points.
Sayville's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Miller Place, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-10.
Sayville will take on Miller Place at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Miller Place, they will head out on the road to challenge Wyandanch at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Miller Place is facing Wyandanch at the right time seeing as Wyandanch is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
