Springfield is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will be playing at home against the Springboro Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Springfield is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
Last Tuesday, Springfield earned a 7-4 victory over Urbana.
Leeauna Rardon made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Jazzdyn Frock was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Savanna Vela was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Springboro beat Waynesville 19-14 on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Bella Miller was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylene Seibel, who went 4-for-6 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs.
Springboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Springboro's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Springfield, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Springfield has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Springboro struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Springfield suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Springboro in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
