The Spanish River Sharks will face off against the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Monday, Spanish River came up short against Forest Hill and fell 8-4. The loss was the Sharks' first of the season.
Santiago Enciso made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two).
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They skirted past Seminole Ridge 6-5.
Trevor Palmieri made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he also gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, JP Mcdonough looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
Back at the plate, Chase Webster was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that he's brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocco Castrillon, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Spanish River's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 runs over those games. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Everything went Spanish River's way against Dr. Joaquin Garcia in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Spanish River made off with an 11-1 victory. Does Spanish River have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dr. Joaquin Garcia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
