The Ropes Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Plains Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ropes has three straight victories, Plains has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Ropes narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Seagraves 17-14.
Meanwhile, Plains took a serious blow against New Home last Friday, falling 77-14. While losing is never fun, Plains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1103rd, while New Home is ranked 491st).
Plains' defeat came about despite a quality game from Tyler Vargas, who threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns.
Ropes' victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.3 points per game. As for Plains, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Ropes strolled past Plains when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a score of 35-18. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ropes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
