Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Immokalee Indians, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 55-14 defeat at the hands of the Sharks on Wednesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Immokalee in their matchups with Gulf Coast: they've now lost nine in a row.
Lilly Fultz was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with four steals and two blocks for Gulf Coast. It was the first time this season that Fultz posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Sophia Pasquarello, who scored seven points along with five assists and five steals.
Immokalee's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Gulf Coast, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-4.
Immokalee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gulf Coast, they will take on Palmetto Ridge at TBD on Friday. Palmetto Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 309th, while Gulf Coast is ranked 96th).
